Ick. Nothing terrible, but not really the kind of place you want to catch a movie. The last time I was there, Theater One smelled like a urinal puck (ah, Manhattan!). Sound was DTS, but just OK overall. C-. (Frazer) A friend of mine calls the Cineplex Odeon chain "Cinebucks Odious," with good reason. This theater has two screens: one isn't bad, but the other, a converted balcony, is tiny. On my last trip to the Waverly, they showed eight minutes of commercials (including a three-minute Coke one) followed by seven minutes of trailers. If you must go, call in advance to find out what screen the film is playing on. Additionally, the Sony theater at 19th Street and Broadway is usually showing at least one of the films that's playing here. (Erickson) |
