Nice place. Maybe I'm just spoiled, but I'd like the sound to be a little more impressive. It's not quite as good as the Lincoln Square 20 blocks uptown, but it's certainly good enough. The Virgin Megastore has a bookstore, cafe, an extensive movie soundtrack selection on the second level, and what's probably the best spread of VHS, laserdisc, and DVD in the city. A- (Frazer)
One would think that a multiplex buried inside a music/video store would be cramped and have small, shoehorned-in auditoriums. State rather dispels that notion. Each of the 4 theaters are huge and in most other multiplexes would be the #1 auditorium. Outside of the auditoriums, the layout is the most spacious in Manhattan, and the Virgin Megastore is a good place to browse and kill time waiting for the film to start. (Their bookstore has a strong music and film section, though it's extremely weak otherwise.) Their film selection has a strong slant toward more teen-oriented movies. Has to be the deepest theater complex in Manhattan. A-. (Odell)
