Please note that I've sprinkled links throughout the theater listings whenever I've been able to find a site online where you can look at what's playing at a particular venue.
They include:
For one-stop shopping, as it were, you can try a couple of sites:
- 777-FILM online has exactly the breadth of listings you'd expect from the premier movie ticket brokers -- the only thing missing is a way to find out what's showing on the biggest screen at the Sony Lincoln Square (see Sony link, above).
- Microsoft's Sidewalk is a pretty nifty guide to the City, including some very brief notes about the quality of certain theaters and listings of what's playing there.
Meanwhile, I'd recommend you drop by the home pages of a few even more rabid NYC cinephiles:
- Movie critic/screenwriter/online exhibitionist Mike D'Angelo takes time out from his gig as an Entertainment Weekly video reviewer to (occasionally) update his home page, which includes a listing of movies opening in NYC on a weekly basis. (Also some of the best damn reviews on the Internet.)
- Steve Erickson, who badgered me until these pages were finished, has a heartwarming selection of links devoted to independent filmmaking and exhibition in New York and beyond. He's also a pretty astute critic, so check him out.
- Recognition and thank yous are also due to Charles Odell, who came online with Steve at the very beginning. The ol' Chateau du Cinema hasn't been updated since The Truman Show came out, so why don't you visit his web page and then fire off an email asking him to get moving? Tell him Bryant sent you.
Much more to come . . .
